Emergency Management Coordinator Job at Pueblo County, CO
Work involves coordinating and administering the all-hazards emergency preparedness program to include coordinating and analyzing plans, communicating with the public, budgeting, managing grants, performing lead EOC disaster coordination, and supervising personnel. Additional duties include preparing, monitoring and updating emergency plans and reports, providing emergency education to the citizens, developing life-saving messaging, hosting responder and ICS training to community partners, cataloging resources, overseeing and on-boarding of volunteer responders, and coordinating the multi-agency all-hazard exercises.
- Knowledge of emergency response planning and procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
- Ability to prepare and coordinate emergency preparedness plans.
- Ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers.
- Maintains sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including typewriters, computers, computer software, calculators, printers, copiers, scanners and facsimile machines.
- Operation of emergency radio, pager and cell phone.
- Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and databases.
- Reads and comprehends Sheriff’s Office and County rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver’s license. A bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related field is required. A State Certified Emergency Manager Certificate is preferred. Three years of experience in emergency management or crisis response as a first responder or receiver is required. Grant management experience is preferred. Any acceptable combination of related education, training, and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered as a substitution. Prior to employment, candidates will complete a background investigation, polygraph examination, and physical examination to include a drug screen.
