Position Overview - Employment Specialist
The Employment Specialist is responsible for the overall guidance to persons served through the process of obtaining and maintaining paid employment.
Essential Job Functions - Employment Specialist
- Develops individual recovery plans for obtaining and maintaining employment.
- Reviews and updates service plans at a frequency determined by current policy and procedures.
- Teaches job seeking skills such as completing job applications, resume writing, effective interviewing skills and appropriate work behaviors.
- Works with persons served on an individual and group basis to develop strategies to resolve job-related problems when they arise.
- Develops new and ongoing relationships with area employers in an effort to establish job placement opportunities.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation and records of all client interaction.
- Attend mandatory IPS and DVR trainings.
- Complies with all IPS and DVR reporting protocols.
- Coordinates support with other staff members and community service providers as appropriate.
- Attends weekly staff meetings and supervision with Case Management Supervisor.
- Adheres to all safety policies.
- Follows agency, policies, procedures, and general work rules.
- Attends and represents employment programs at team meetings, community provider meetings, and events.

Requirements:Education/Skill Requirements - Employment Specialist
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Prefer experience working with people in a human service field
- Licensure/Certificate/Registration:
Other Skills/Abilities - Employment Specialist
Knowledge and or experience in vocational rehabilitation. Valid current driver’s license required. Ability to use Electronic Health Record, Microsoft word, and resume writer computer programs.
Work Environment
General office environment; light physical work as needed: travel or errands outside the office.
