The Employer and Career Engagement Specialist facilitates strategic relationships with industry partners to engage all students in experiential and career opportunities including pre-career preparation, internships, and employment. This person will collaborate with various divisions, departments, and offices across the College to strengthen career pathways and mentorship opportunities for all students.
Job Duties
- Establish new and strengthen existing relationships with key employer partners to increase experiential and employment opportunities for all students.
- Collaborate with academic programs, department chairs, and division directors to develop career pathways and opportunities.
- Coordinate with the College’s Advancement Division, Alumnae Relations, and other campus partners across the various divisions to develop and increase opportunities for students.
- Lead the implementation of campus recruiting (in-person and virtual), with support from the CCO staff, including career fairs, networking events, and employer information sessions, tables, open hours, and other recruiting events.
- Identify, plan, and coordinate off-campus employer and industry site visits as well as job shadowing to engage students in the exploration of career pathways.
- Coach students one-on-one to explore, pursue, and connect with experiential, internship, and job opportunities that align with passions, strengths, and skills.
- Work with CCO staff in the implementation of student preparation workshops and programming.
- Assess and evaluate the ongoing effectiveness of employer relationships, partnerships, and recruiting activities.
- Assist the Director of the CCO in the collection and analysis of experiential learning and graduate outcome data; distribute reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Director of the CCO to further the mission of the Office, College, and institutional strategic priorities.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Established record of success in building relationships, programming, and partnerships with employers for experiential, internship, and employment opportunities.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumnae, and college stakeholders.
- Experience in serving diverse students, including first gen, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other diverse communities.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Service-focused mindset and ability to professionally represent the Office and College in an outwardly-facing role.
- Must be a proactive, self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Proficient in Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, career management systems, databases, LinkedIn, and other technology tools.
- Available for occasional travel to visit with regional employers and industry partners.
- Understanding of and commitment to the Mission of Saint Mary’s College.
- Experience in career development in higher education, particularly in an employer relations role.
- Leadership in professional networks, particularly those interfacing with employers and recruiting.
- Experience in effectively planning and executing events as well as public relations.
- Spanish fluency.
