Your Role at Baxter

At Baxter, we are growing through innovation! We are adding a Human Factors Engineer to our Round Lake, IL location, offering a flex/hybrid schedule.

Are you passionate about medical technology and devices and how they interact with patients? In this role, you get to work closely with our patients to improve their experience using our Renal Care products (potentially other product portfolios, too). You will make impactful recommendations for new product development and sustaining products on the market.

Using HFE principles, you will design, develop, and test products while working with global, multi-functional teams. Support the efforts for innovating new and improving existing medical products with invested teams (customers, marketing, and engineering).

What you'll be doing

  • Support the study of how our technology & medical products impact patient outcomes and drive research for medical devices and regulated healthcare products.

  • Actively participate in device program teams to ensure sound human factors principles are considered and implemented.

  • Create and communicate project plans, tasks, and results and manage time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information at key achievements through clear, concise communication across platforms.

  • Find solutions and make recommendations based on a variety of technical inputs.

  • Solving problems related to customer needs and product delivery.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree. Preferred discipline areas: Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, Applied Research Psychology, or Psychology.

  • Ability to write user documentation and experience with writing protocols. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to decompose complex problems into the actionable task list.

  • 1+ years of related experience. Internships & Co-Ops will be considered.

  • Regulated environment experience preferred. Medical Device experience strongly preferred.

  • Understands user-centered design, heuristic evaluations, and design of experiments preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $52,800 to $132,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
