A Day in the Life: Engineer II, Data
The Engineer II, Data position is a key role for the execution of Trinity's technology strategy and focus. Data is critical in the logistics industry, especially in a 3PL. Working with modern tools (Snowflake, AWS, MySQL), the Engineer II is relied upon to use their technical skills for the execution and delivery of business value via development, implementation, and delivery across Trinity's data portfolio and to mentor and develop Engineer I team members via mentorship, code review, and coaching. Essential Skill Sets: Is this You?
- Coordinate and develop features and modules across multiple applications and subsystems, including collaboration in requirement definitions with end users, prototyping, design, coding, testing, and deployment needs
- Develop a strong understanding of how Trinity's data is generated and leveraged, is structured, and how users operate with the data
- Provide engineering and design support to our technical operations staff when they are building, deploying, configuring, and supporting systems for the users
- Coordinate with the engineering and operations teams to define plans for standardizing, scaling, and enhancing our systems and the services to deploy and release new software
- Open communication with leadership and stakeholders
- Self-Starter
- Demonstrate strong organization & prioritization
Job Requirements: Is This You?
- Education: BA/ BS (4-year degree) or equivalent experience
- Experience: 2-3 years experience in a professional team-based development organization
- Tools: Proficient in Snowflake (RBAC, warehouse & query optimization, clustering, etc.), AWS data pipelines, data integration tools
- Database: Relational database experience with a clear understanding of data structures and SQL queries
- Skills: Proficient in SQL, experience with Python and Java
- Strong ability to define solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage and execute across multiple priorities at a time
- Ability to perform code reviews and provide feedback to other developer team members
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Participates in training, continuing education, or continuous improvement as approved by your manager
- Commitment to living the Trinity Guiding Values
- Some travel required
