ENGINEER III – CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY GOVERNMENT

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services seeks to fill one (1) Full-Time (35 hours/week) Engineer III position to work out of the Mayville, NY office. This position is responsible for reviewing public water supply plans to ensure compliance with New York State Department of Health public water requirements. Other duties include: provide oversight, guidance, and training to field staff, regarding wastewater; reviews professional engineering designs and plans for new and expanding municipal, commercial and large/complex residential wastewater treatment systems; Oversees County approval of existing commercial systems at the time of property transfers; Coordinates co-inspections with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation permitted systems; Reviews and approves professional engineering plans for facilities such as swimming pools, splash pads, campgrounds, mobile home parks and the like. The work performed entails the application of civil engineering skills to various projects undertaken in connection with surveys and the design, inspection, investigation and construction of public works, sewage facilities, air and other pollution control systems, and buildings. Some traveling may be required. Salary commensurate with experience.

This position is being filled on a provisional basis pending the outcome of a future dated Civil Service examination for this title.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires possession of a Professional Engineer’s License issued by the State of New York PLUStwo (2) years of professional, post license experience in either civil, mechanical, sanitary or solid waste engineering. Will also be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.
