PLZ Corp is the North American leader in specialty aerosol and liquid product manufacturing. The PLZ family of companies specializes in the development, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of a comprehensive line of contract fill, branded and private-label products. We formulate, blend, fill and package more than 2,500 branded and private label products including cleaners and polishers, industrial solvents, lubricants and degreasers, adhesives, sanitary supply disinfectants, insecticides, air fresheners, and personal care products for home and industrial use.
We are hiring an Analytical Chemist to support our Personal Care facility at Coal City, IL. The Analytical Chemist is responsible to test raw materials, in-process batches, may help develop new test methodologies and will utilize the GC, an IR on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
- Test all raw materials according to established protocols; notifying appropriate parties when tests do not meet required specifications
- Test all in-process batches according to established protocols; notifying appropriate parties when tests do not meet required specifications
- Assist in providing recommendations to salvage in-process batches that do not meet specifications
- Work to continually improve testing methodologies and documentation, ensuring the most appropriate and thorough methods are applied
- Utilize required instrumentation to complete the required tasks
- Perform periodic calibration of instrumentation (as trained and required) to ensure the most accurate readings
- Collaborate with other departments to find solutions to problems
- Maintain/produce all reporting as required or requested
Requirements:
- Minimum of a BS in chemistry/biology/engineering
- 2 + years of experience with validations, samples, & testing, on production.
- Data Analysis & Report Writing
- Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate across entire organization and drive change throughout the organization
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Proactive and ‘Can Do’ attitude
