Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Job at OWENS CORNING
What your day in this role might involve at OC- Ocala FL:
The Night EHS Tech will establish and accomplish aggressive personal, and facility goals that align with region, business unit and Owens Corning goals. These goals will reflect a total commitment to developing a strong safety culture, achieving a world-class safety process and the environmentally responsible operation of the facility, while working towards the 2030 sustainability goals. The EHS Tech will develop skills and grow capabilities in the assigned facility, including:
- Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily
- Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project
- Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
- Support in investigations of accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
- Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
- Teaching supervisors, managers and other leaders in the company about health and safety standards
- Presenting safety training sessions to the company
- Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues
- Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols
- Analyzing health and safety data
- Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities
Qualifications for Night EHS Tech
- Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and auditor safety software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
- Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
- Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback
There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:
- Work up to (8) hours in non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Ability to work after business hours and be on call as necessary
Safeguard self and others with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Steel-toed shoes
- Eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask)
- Hearing protection as necessary for tasks
