J O B S U M M A R Y:
This position is responsible for leading a team of global professionals focused on sustainability in product development for the Global Writing Business Unit. Primary responsibilities include translating sustainability regulation, requirements, and action across our functional teams and brands. Collaborates with cross-functional business partners, external partners and solution providers to develop strategies with a focus on the consumer, the environment, and business requirements. Forward thinking and aligned to company objectives while delivering continuous improvement and progress against sustainability goals.
K E Y R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S:
- Drive expertise and broadly educate on sustainability and circular economy topics, guiding global functional teams in their efforts and decisions to meet company sustainability goals and objectives
- Understands sustainability trends, customer requirements and regulation to develop strategy and impact assessment to align executive leadership and key stakeholders on mandatory and voluntary Global sustainability actions, transforming mandates into clear instructions for operational teams
- Lead best practice development for sustainability reporting, implementing routine leadership updates on business impact
- Develop and implement resources and decision tools to assist development teams to integrate sustainability into NPD and our culture
- Bolster alliance with central functions on key tools and resources to deliver pan-Newell strategies and initiatives for advancement of our company, brands, customers, and consumers
- Drive strategic external partnerships to align ambition and requirements for sustainability across product and packaging.
Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or a closely related Engineering field with retail product development experience.
- 10-15 years relevant experience in product development (consumer packaged goods).
- 10+ years of experience managing a team of 5+
- 5+ years working in global raw material and component sustainability requirements
- Fundamental knowledge of product and packaging substrates
- Proficiency with Solidworks, ArtiosCAD and other engineering software is desired.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects through a team of direct reports in a cross functional environment.
- Organizational skills, aggressive drive for performance, and extremely high levels of personal accountability are required.
- Evidence of strong problem-solving skills including the ability to anticipate potential problems and working across departments to develop solutions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, planning, and presentation skills and demonstrated the ability to lead by direct control and influence for positive business outcomes.
- Flexibility to travel to work with domestic and international partners.
