Environmental & Outdoor Recreation Educator - Summer 2023 Job at City of Raleigh
The City of Raleigh is seeking part-time Environmental & Outdoor Recreation Educators to facilitate programmatic experiences. Seasonal Environmental & Outdoor Recreation Educators are key members of our staff and contribute by working with patrons through educational experiences. Successful candidates will work with the public while incorporating outdoor ethical practices through programmatic opportunities.
The candidate must be at least 18 years of age, able to lift at least 50 pounds, and able to communicate instructions to participants in a clear, understandable manner. Candidates must be comfortable operating paddlecraft in a lake setting.
Knowledge:
The value and principals of outdoor recreation and environmental education- Risk management practice in outdoor recreation venues
- Enthusiasm in working with diverse populations
- Confidence in dealing with conflict resolution
- Clear communication in a programmatic setting and with administrative tasks
- Work as a team member promoting a shared vision and positive workplace culture
- Work in an outdoor environment, including various weather conditions
- Maneuver a paddle craft efficiently
- Teach to skills and concepts to individuals with varying comfort levels and previous experience.
- Gain familiarity with City of Raleigh parks, facilities, and programs
