Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Job Description

The Environmental Planner/Admin is responsible for procurement and admin functions in the Environmental Department. This Planner will work closely with other members of the Environmental Department. Scheduling, reporting, and procurement support will be ongoing activities for this position. In addition, support of scoping and scheduling will be required.
The Planner/Admin is a key position to the Environmental Department who routinely collaborates with other functional areas, Health &Safety, Supply Chain, Operations (mine and mill) and Capital Projects. The Planner/Admin will need to effectively communicate with business partners and stakeholders.
This position is based at the Fort Knox Gold Mine, Kinross Alaska’s base of operations. The position will require travel to other offices, facilities, or field sites in Interior Alaska (up to 30%).


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop scope of projects with end users
  • Develop schedules
  • Interface with accounting, purchasing and vendors
  • Enters requisitions in JDE
  • Develop procurement planning list for supply chain
  • Release invoices for approval
  • Monitors and maintains accurate project cost
  • Work closely with department staff to scan and file “critical” documents
  • Maintain the Environmental Administrative Record
  • Organize meetings and site visits for external visitors to the Environmental Department
  • Perform other related functions as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in similar industry, environmental or construction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project, etc.)
  • Previous experience with JD Edwards a plus
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are required
  • Perform other duties as needed
