Position Summary: This position is responsible for the safe operation of the evaporator.

1. Role in Safe Quality Food (SQF)

· Evaporator operator is responsible for ensuring the product sent from the Filters through the Evaporators and Infuser are at the proper temperatures and flow rates as specified by SRC guidelines..

· Follow all SunRype Food Safety guidelines and Personal Health, Hygiene and GMP’s.

2. Responsibilities:

· Able to safely and accurately do CIP and start-up preparation.

· Able to fill cooling towers as required.

· Able to operate several control panels and understand the importance of pressures and temperature on product specs.

· Understand the columns and impacts on essence retention.

· Send juice to the cold room and have the correct pipes connected.

· Able to monitor the process both prior to and after the evaporation stage.

· Able to collect and record all required documentation.

· Able to effectively communicate the process variables applicable to the operated evaporator to Filter Operators, QA, and the Shift Supervisor.

4. Physical Requirements:

This position requires the following physical demands up to 90% of the time:

· Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

· Must be able to carry 25 pounds up and down 21 stairs.

· Must be able to stand for 8 hours during a shift minus breaks and lunch.

· Must be able to work in hot, humid and/or cold conditions.

· Must be able to stand, bend, squat, crawl, kneel, reach above shoulders, climb ladders and crawl in tight and awkward work places for long periods of time.

· Must have good hand-eye coordination.

5. Non-Physical Requirements:

A. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

B. Experience: Minimum one year experience as an evaporator operator preferred.

C. Special Skills:

· Able to work any shift, overtime and any or all days of the week in accordance with plant needs.

· Knowledge and awareness of steam lines/hot set/condensate water to avoid burns.

· Knowledge and awareness of chemicals used for CIP and proper PPI while using them.

· Properly do equipment checks daily and report any problems to maintenance.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.

· A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.

· Personally invested in the success of the business.

· Motivated, focused and accountable for results.

E. External Relationships:

· None

F. Internal Relationships:

· The Evaporator Operator must interact and communicate effectively with all employees of the organization. Effective communication is especially important with the shift supervisor, Filter Operator and QA Technicians.

G. Direct & Indirect Reports:

· There are no direct or indirect reports.

H. Backup:

• Backup for Evaporator operator would be another qualified Evaporator operator from the same shift or different shifts to cover the 8 hour shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
