Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:
The core Duties & Responsibilities of an Event Server:
Responsible for serving menu items to guests in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner and according to hotel specifications and group requirements. To serve our guests in accordance with Marriott standards of Food and Beverage quality, presentation and sanitation in a gracious and professional manner. To take pride in all aspects of service, quality, appearance and cleanliness towards yourself and your area of responsibility.
- Serve all items utilizing appropriate china, glassware, silverware, garnish and condiments.
- Serve menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Monitor designated area continuously. Watch for cues from guests.
- Relay all guest compliments or concerns/complaints to management immediately
- Be knowledgeable of all menu items, their garnish, contents and preparation methods.
- Be prepared to answer any guest questions about the menu in a direct, concise manner.
- Know proper beverage, liquor and wine service.
- Be sure that tables are properly bussed throughout the meal. Dirty glasses, dishes and silverware should be cleared, except sugar and appropriate silverware and beverage glasses that are not empty.
- Special attention should be made to the finer points of service, water glasses filled and offering refills when glass is 1/3 full.
- Ensure that details are followed from the banquet event order.
- Attend to guests’ needs in a pleasant manner.
- Always be present in room when guests arrive and greet guests.
The Desired Qualifications are:
· Must be or have the ability to be TIPS certified.
· Must be or have the ability to be Food Safety certified.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Hotel and Event/Banquet Server experience desired.
Language Skills:
· Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read & understand the English language.
