Fairfield County, one of the fastest growing counties within the State of Ohio, is seeking a dynamic leader for the position of Executive Director of the Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission. The Executive Director is responsible for administering the activities of current and advanced planning for Fairfield County and serves as staff advisor to the Fairfield County Regional Planning Commission. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing all aspects associated with land use planning and development projects within unincorporated areas of the county. The Regional Planning Director serves as the public face of the Regional Planning Commission and plays a key role in the strategic development plans of the county. This position requires a confident, self-disciplined person who can build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders to facilitate high-quality development in a rapidly growing county. This position is responsible for overseeing all functions of the department including, but not limited to comprehensive planning efforts, facilitating new development, and preserving the character of the county, while allowing for future growth. This position works independently of close supervision but is reviewed and directed by the Regional Planning Commission.Interested candidates are to submit a cover letter, resume, and salary requirements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
60% Under the direction of the Regional Planning Commission, this position is responsible for administering the activities of the Regional Planning Department. Provides leadership and supervision to the development of short and long-range planning for the county. Develops county subdivision regulations and provides guidance regarding proper application of the regulations to impacted communities and developers. Coordinates the regional planning department activities with various county departments and political subdivisions; exercises significant independent judgment and discretion in administering planning, subdivision regulations, and building regulations in conjunction with input from the regional planning commission; Administers community block grant programs (directs application and provides fair housing services); Oversees departmental operations, including preparation of departmental budget and day to day operations. Provides oversight and input to various contract consultants. Administers the Fairfield County Commercial Building Department; Ensures daily operations of the building department are performed satisfactorily; Coordinates inspections and provides guidance related to permitting and billing as needed. Ability to provide effective and efficient reports, presentations, and communications to varying audiences regarding planning, regulatory, and grant matters; 20% Consults with the public, citizen groups, governmental officials; Interacts with print and broadcast media; Represents RPC on local, regional, and state boards. Prepares annual report.15% Prepares and directs preparation of plans, reports, and studies relating to the development of the county. Maintains financial records and documents. 5% Responsible for staff management, leadership and development.
