Upper Crust Food Service is seeking a Full Time Fraternity/Sorority Executive House Chef for the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.

Upper Crust Food Service are looking for reliable, smart working individuals with a tremendous attitude.

The future Upper Crust team member should posses Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management, ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress, Outstanding communication and leadership skills, Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes, good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

The future Upper Crust team member will have the knowledge, skills and ability to follow and make menus and recipes. The ability to learn quickly is the key to success in these positions. The candidate will joyfully interact with our clients on a daily basis.

  • 5+ years of Culinary experience in management
  • 5 years of restaurant experience
  • Significant experience as a chef, in addition to experience as a sous chef or line cook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Creativity
  • Ability to oversee and manage kitchen operations
  • Ability to remain productive when pulled in many different directions

Responsibilities:

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
  • able to lift 50 lbs from deliverers for inventory

Skills

  • Proven experience as cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bake-ware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team-environment
  • Posses excellent attitude and personality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
