JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for general building maintenance items.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Completes maintenance and repair duties, including, but not limited to, repairing and replacing various components of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.

  • Must follow all safety regulations as established by OSHA and Commonwealth Catholic Charities.

  • Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Must have the ability to travel to all Richmond-area locations.

  • Assists in the relocation and reorganization of office furniture and/or appliances.

  • Replaces burnt and broken lights. Replaces batteries in automatic toilets, smoke detectors, and security systems. Replaces ceiling tiles, flooring, doors and windows, locks, and appliances as needed.

  • Unclogs toilets, sinks, and drains. Repairs and replaces pipes and plumbing fixtures.

  • Routinely cleans and replaces HVAC filters. Assesses and makes recommendations for larger HVAC repairs as needed.

  • Repairs damaged plaster and drywall surfaces. Sands and repaints to match.

  • Maintains clean and orderly tool kit.

  • Communicates with the Facilities Manager about large scale maintenance and repair projects and provides updates on the status of assigned maintenance requests.

  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

  • Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.

  • Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Job Qualifications: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma with five years of related experience. Type III CFC certification required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds.
