The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Facilities and Engineering Department and provides mechanical services to all GMP manufacturing (aseptic and oral solid dose), product development, manufacturing, and office areas. Requirements of the position include both mechanical and electrical understandings.

Shift work and/or weekend work may be required at times. Work times TBD.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate understandings of GMP facilities mechanical/electrical systems and associated controls throughout various applications in facilities
  • Proficiency in identifying & troubleshooting systems and completing repairs per required regulations and industry best practices including component change out.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance and completion of work orders
  • Completes documentation of work or repairs consistent with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Offers suggestions for correcting problems and for improving operations.
  • Exercises good judgment in dealing with operational problems.
  • Assists in facility expansion, validation
  • Works under general supervision to meet project goals
  • Will recommend parts/supply purchases for equipment within the manufacturing/lab areas including spare parts inventory.
  • Completes GM training meeting deadlines and schedules
  • Escalates issues to Engineering management when required (i.e., safety, complexity, need for contractors)
  • Works in a safe and compliant manner using PPE and observing safety precuations
  • Other duties as assigned


Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ of experience with facilities maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Basic math and computer skills (WORD, EXCEL)
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Positive, professional attitude toward work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors and to contribute to a project team.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English (verbal, written).

  • Able to learn and apply new maintenance techniques after appropriate training from in-house, trade journals, online learning, service technicians, etc.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, overtime, and regularly scheduled emergency call.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Hear and speak to employees and business associates on the phone, Teams and in person in English
  • Exposure to manufacturing/laboratory environment such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach and move about the facility including climbing stairs, climbing ladders, gowning for clean areas.
  • Regularly required to document work in handwriting or in a computer system
  • Ability to hear and discern mechanical sounds for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to hold and manipulate hand tools.
  • Ability to see details and discern color.
  • Ability to see and read and understand measurement tools in English and Metric units
  • Ability to read and understand procedures. Occasionally required to update procedures
  • Ability to write on paperwork orders and in logbooks.
  • Ability to use a computer monitor, keyboard, and pertinent software.
  • Ability to use PPE (respirators, gloves, safety shoes, goggles, etc.)
  • Ability to receive training and take tests to demonstrate knowledge acquisition.
