Educational Enrichment Systems is a non-profit child development agency that has provided superior early education programs since 1979. We operate 19 locations throughout San Diego County. We are hiring a Facilities Technician to support our Facilities Director.

Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Technician:

  • Performs minor electrical maintenance, including replacement or repair of fixtures
  • Performs minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices.
  • Performs minor carpentry work as required to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens, and furniture.
  • Performs painting and drywall repairs.
  • Dismantles and installs furniture.
  • Moves heavy furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Observes safety rules, regulations, procedures, and precautions while involved in work tasks.
  • Other duties and responsibilities needed to meet the immediate needs of EES

Certifications/Licenses

Fingerprint Clearance,( no exceptions) FBI and Child Abuse Index, Complete and pass physical, negative TB test, Valid driver’s license and proof of current insurance. COVID- 19 vaccines and booster.

Job Description:

Basic Function:

Responsible for the maintenance of facilities, grounds and equipment. Ensure facilities are maintained in a clean, safe manner in assigned EES facilities at all times. Under direction of Facility Director perform building maintenance trades involved in maintenance and repair to EES facilities.

Responsibilities

1. Support the centers philosophy and administrative policies.

2. Attend staff meetings and agency functions as required.

3. Work co-operatively with all staff and foster team work.

4. Ensure compliance with government health and safety standards and related regulations.

5. Ensures custodial and maintenance activities comply with health, fire and other safety regulations.

6. Tours facilities to help identify custodial needs. Interact with children, parents, and staff in a positive and respectful manner.

7. Maintain accurate records including attendance, sign in sheets, inventories, site visits, and daily activities log and facilities site binder.

8. Emphasizes preventive maintenance.

9. Ensures adequate stock of cleaning tools and supplies.

10. Keep playground free of debris, water fountains unclogged and assist Facility Director to educate site directors about preventive maintenance, building security and safety issues.

11. Report suspicious situations, broken/dangerous items to site directors.

12. Keep Supervisor informed with written or verbal notes about the daily activities and project updates.

13. Perform semi-skilled work involved in the maintenance and repair to EES facilities.

14. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with EES staff, community representatives and other regular contacts.

15. Assist in planning specific activities and events.

16. Complete workshops/outside trainings approved by the supervisor annually.

17. Follow EES employee handbook.

18. Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above list. The list of duties and responsibilities may be expanded at times with out revision to meet the immediate needs of the agency.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum two year related experience

Certifications/Licenses

Complete and pass physical, negative TB test

Annual proof of influenza vaccine, (or a statement declining)

COVID-19 vaccination and booster

Proof of pertussis and measles immunizations

Fingerprint and Criminal Record clearance required. FBI and child abuse index.

Complete and pass CDSS Mandated Reporter Certification

Valid Driver’s License and proof of current insurance

Preferred

Current state license in any of the following related fields:

Electrical, plumbing, construction, general contractor, etc.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Child development center environment, position may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, bending, sitting on the floor, standing for long periods of time and lifting equipment and materials as necessary.

The daily environment will require extensive standing, bending at the waist, squatting, up and down movement with your legs, crawling, kneeling, twisting, walking, lifting, reaching above and below shoulders, climbing and jumping. There will be physical activities performed within the job requirements that include climbing, jumping, walking, running, etc.

There will be times you may be performing work under stressful conditions.
