Job Description:
The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position.
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for 3 Facility Maintenance Specialist. These are permanent fulltime state positions located at the Portland Air National Guard Base (PANG) in Portland, Oregon.

This announcement will remain open until favorable candidates are selected, and all positions are filled. The first candidate list will be pulled on November 22, 2022. This recruitment may close any time after this date.

This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing
The purpose of this job/position is to support the Base Civil Engineering and the Operations and Maintenance of the Portland Air National Guard Installation. Specifically, this position directly supports and assists the Structural, Mechanical and Electrical section in recurring maintenance, emergency service calls, and work orders as assigned.
Working Conditions
Required to work from stepladders, portable and mobile man lifts, subject to loud noise areas and inclement weather. Also, requires bending, stooping, standing, lifting of heavy objects. Shall be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Required to work with hazardous waste or materials, to include disposal, removal, and replacement with like or other materials. Works around equipment with high voltage of 480 volts AC or less. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.

What You Need to Qualify
Two (2) years of:
a) general building maintenance
b) carpentry
c) electrical
d) mechanical
e) painting or
f) plastering experience.
**OR**
A journeyman’s license/card in
a) general building maintenance
b) carpentry
c) electrical
d) mechanical
e) painting or
f) plastering.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:
Experience performing general building maintenance.
Experience maintaining and repairing doors.
Experience maintaining and repairing plumbing and fuel delivery systems.
Experience in maintenance and repair of small engines
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to be compatible and work well with others.
  • Must remain current with job knowledge and skills and all other requirements for the job classification.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all duties.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment.
  • Employee is required to respond to disasters per PIA OPLAN 93-2, 91-15, 355-1 SPR and others as necessary.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must have and maintain a valid state and government driver’s license and have a good driving record.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DoD SECRET security clearance and eligibility to obtain a USAF Restricted Area Badge.
  • Duties and responsibilities include unescorted access to restricted areas that may contain classified equipment or materials up to secret level.
  • To retain employment incumbent must possess or be able to possess and maintain a favorable completed National Agency Check to receive and retain an AF Form 1199 restricted area badge.
  • Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.
