What You'll Be Doing

Help families in Wake County get the assistance they need to live healthy thriving lives. The Family & Children Medicaid Supervisor provides supervision and administrative oversight of the daily activities of eligibility case workers in the Family and Children Medicaid Program. Additionally, this role works closely with the community they are serving.

This is a time-limited benefits eligible position expected to last through December 2023. You get the 5% towards your 401K too! Wake County will reassess and extend these positions based upon availability of funding and business need.

Primary duties of this position include:
Creating and maintaining a work environment with open communication, team work and excellent customer service with the team and other staff
Sharing knowledge of all facets of the program, and all available resources
with staff
Ensuring that work generated by staff is accurate and completed in a timely
manner
Completing case reviews and document findings in appropriate databases to
document the accuracy of work being performed by staff
Communicating to staff any issues, policies or changes that influence job
responsibilities and case management practices
Supervising personnel by performing yearly evaluations, interviewing and hiring staff, and resolving personnel issues whenever warranted
Serving on the management team and attending meetings

NOTE: Wake County Health and Human Services employees are required to be in their current role for a minimum of one (1) year to be eligible to apply for another Health and Human Services position. If you work in the Health Clinics and Public Health Division, influenza immunization is a condition of initial and continued employment, subject to compliance with federal law.

For positions with a remote work option, all Wake County Government remote workers must reside in one of the following states or districts: North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Maine.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree
Three years of job-related experience
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Experience working within a State or County Department of Health and Human Services’
Current or prior supervisory experience
Three (3) years or more experience determining eligibility for a State or County Department of Health and Human Services’ Economic Self-Sufficiency Program (including and limited to Medicaid, Food and Nutrition Services, and/or Work First programs)
Proficiency in NCFAST and OnBase or another electronic document management system
Proficiency in Excel
Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred

Knowledge and strong understanding of Medicaid policy
The ability to interpret and explain policies to convey information clearly and concisely to groups. or individuals verbally, or in writing
The ability to listen and respond appropriately to others
Excellent organizational, customer service and time management skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
Experience with NC Fast and the ability to troubleshoot problems within the system
Ability to work in excel and create excel documents

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hiring Range: $22.90 - $30.91 commensurate with experience
