Title: Family Liaison (Hired through EduStaff)
Reports to: Building Administrator
Location: Benton Harbor Area Schools
Job Summary:
The Family and Community Liaison is an individual based at a school whose primary function is to connect the home and school in a positive, respectful, and welcoming manner. The Family and Community Liaison play a dual role of ambassadorship. The liaison represents the school through thoughtful, meaningful, and culturally appropriate communications. The liaison represents the parent and/or guardian by understanding the many challenges that occur in our communities. The Liaison is cultural broker who maneuvers between school, home, and community to ensure understanding, transparency, and a space where trust may be fostered. High preference is for the Liaison to be a member of the community and/or have the ability to maneuver within the community successfully building relationships and respect.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Experience working and/or living in an urban or inner city setting
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs and implement a space in the building for a Parent Center; for classes and meetings
- Assists in the continuous updating of demographic information, i.e. current address
- Collaborates in the development of process/procedures for conducting home visits
- Develops relevant and meaningful parent academy-type classes and seminars
- Serves as a member on the Student Study Team
- Work closely with the Principal, Specialists, Dean, Student Affairs Officer, Director of Positive School Climate, and/or the Community in Schools Coordinator
- Coordinate efforts with other F/C Liaisons and Specialist

Terms of Employment:
$18 - $20 per hour; Hired through EduStaff
Salary based on education and experience pursuant to the Benton Harbor Area School Board policies and collective bargaining agreement for any position that falls under collective bargaining.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
Funding Source:
This position is funded using Title I(a). Federal regulations do not allow a promise of employment beyond the current year of allocated funds. This position, at any time, may be dissolved based on funding availability and data collected from a comprehensive needs assessment.
