Family Nurse Practitioner - Contract Job at Aster Springs
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for overseeing the medical operations of the facility. Ensures the optimal care of clients seeking longer-term behavioral health services provided by Aster Springs for Eating Disorder Treatment.
This is a contract role working approximately 8 hours per week.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Maintains frequent and close working relationships with clients, President/CEO, National Director of Admissions, Nursing, facility leadership, peers and vendors.
Outside the organization: May initiate and maintain working relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides compassionate and professional guidance to clients, and referring professionals seeking longer-term behavioral health services.
- Serves as contact for guidance regarding client care, ensuring physician orders are followed.
- Oversee weekly treatment team meetings to coordinate care, communicate client needs and progress, and ensure consistent and quality care.
- Medication evaluation and management for clients
- Oversees EMR and Narcotics log
- Ensures programming is defined, coordinated, staffed and delivered in a manner that provides high quality care for Aster Springs for Eating Disorder Treatment clients.
- Provide oversight of utilization review process with personal involvement in difficult cases.
- Maintains client caseload and acts as primary practitioner for assigned clients.
- Represents Aster Springs at local, regional and national eating disorder-oriented events.
- Works closely with Nursing and direct care support staff.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications related to Aster Springs for Eating Disorder Treatment Mission and population.
Additional Responsibilities
- Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
- Assists in promoting and ensuring that the mission, goals and objectives of Aster Springs are understood and actively supported by the employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Board Eligible or Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner. All necessary requirements must be met to practice in Virginia.- Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
- Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
- Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in a behavioral health setting such as a hospital, outpatient clinic, or related service provider required
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience treating the adult emotionally disturbed population which preferable would include young adults and adults in the mental health. Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus. Eating Disorder treatment experience preferred.
- Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity
- Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner
