This exceptional team is looking for an addition to the clinical department.

The Family Therapist oversees the wellbeing of the client through family counseling, group counseling, assessments, education, documentation, and monitoring quality assurance. Position supports clinical team by participating in on-call program, record maintenance, referrals, and family therapy services.


Position Responsibilities

  • Maintains therapeutic alliance with patients and families. Demonstrates the following: respect concern, empathy flexibility, spontaneity appropriate self-disclosure, confrontation, sets appropriate boundaries, concreteness.
  • Document all activity of a therapeutic nature for each patient and family. Files are current based upon Quantitative and Qualitative records review. Documentation is legible and timely.
  • Prioritize clinical issues for treatment within 10 days of admission.
  • Meet with clients and family (in person or via telephone) weekly.
  • Assess and determine family goals based on history and current interactions.
  • Progress notes are completed daily and reflect patient and family progress through treatment. Documentation reflects patient involvement in treatment planning.
  • As required, clinician will conduct process and psycho-educational groups for clients. Group Curriculum is utilized for methodologies and targeted outcomes; group notes are completed for required groups.
  • Regularly assesses patients through counseling and treatment planning to identify the needs of the patient that cannot be met by Lifeskills program. Makes referrals for outside care are recommended to the treatment team and arranged on behalf of the patient, with patient consent.
  • Participates in individual and group supervision as per policy and integrates direction from supervisor into clinical practice.
  • As needed, contact and discuss with other professionals to assure comprehensive quality care for the patient. Conducted within the scope of the professional and ethical standards of clinician’s licensing board, and Lifeskills Policies and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates initiative in his/her professional growth by participating in seminars/training, etc. that further education and effectiveness.

Education: Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related field.

Experience: At least three years’ work experience in the field of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency treatment. Clinician demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and expertise in providing individual and group therapy using evidence-based methodologies. Clinician is able to establish positive rapport with patients and families. Clinician is able to multi-task, manage appointments, and complete clinical documentation within time limitations, and maintain compliance with DCF licensure and CARF standards.

License Requirement: Must have a valid Florida Department of Health license as LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
