Accountant III – 70036877


This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Office of Finance & Accounting.


Salary Rate: $1,461.54 bi-weekly, $38,000.04 Annually


SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.


SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor the inbox dedicated to inmate releases, reviewing requests for releases, revisions, emergency releases and other requests and questions from institution staff:
    • Compile data for releasing inmates, for review and weekly upload into trust fund accounting system.
    • Process and audit transactions related to inmate releases in the trust accounting system.
    • Maintain inventory control log of release cards assigned to releasing inmates and communicate data to institutional release staff prior to release dates.
    • Complete revision requests from institutional release staff, documenting and processing any changes per inventory control log and/ or transactions in inmate trust fund accounting systems.
    • Maintain log of inmate acknowledgements of receipt of release card.
    • Ensure documentation is complete for weekly release, corresponding with institutional release staff for clarification, updates, incident reports, etc. as needed
    • Respond to phone calls and emails, resolving issues wit internal FDC staff and former inmates regarding release funds/cards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to use a calculator and a personal computer to include use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to an accounting program
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Ability to design and implement accounting systems.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
