Salary: $60,000 - $85,000
Fiber Technician Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician with experience in Fiber to the Home (FTTH) installations to join our team. The Fiber Technician will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic network infrastructure in residential and commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fiber optic cabling, terminations, and splicing techniques, as well as experience with OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and fiber characterization.
Fiber Technician Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and maintain fiber optic network infrastructure in residential and commercial settings.
- Perform site surveys to determine optimal fiber optic cable routes and installation points.
- Terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables using industry-standard techniques and tools.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment as needed.
- Conduct OTDR testing, fiber characterization, and other tests to ensure network performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate records of all network installations and repairs, including documenting cable routes, splice points, and equipment used.
- Provide technical support to other teams and departments as needed.
Fiber Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in fiber optic network installations and maintenance, with a focus on FTTH.
- Knowledge of industry-standard fiber optic cabling, termination, and splicing techniques.
- Familiarity with OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and fiber characterization.
- Ability to read and interpret fiber optic schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
