Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is seeking a Finance Specialist to join the firm's Finance and Accounting team. The Finance Specialist is responsible for basic reporting and distribution of of financial information, and other general accounting processes for the firm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Generates and verifies month-end, quarterly and annual reports; prepares graphs and charts of financial information
- Receives and processes incoming payments from clients and third-party vendors; initiates communication to correct and/or clarify invoices and payments as needed; fields calls concerning billing disputes
- Processes wires and ACH payments as needed
- Processes and distributes requests for proof of insurance letters
- Prepares and processes invoices in the firm's financial management system as needed
- Serves as backup to the Conflicts Coordinator; generates conflict reports, assists with new matter intake and maintenance changes on existing files
- Assists with general administrative support for CFO and Director of Accounting and Controller (drafts letters, memos, and distributes financial information to target groups)
- Assists with processing weekly reimbursements and monthly attorney credit card activity
- Addresses assigned projects as directed and assists Finance team members with various functions of the department as needed
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Business, Accounting or other related field and one (1) to three (3) years of progressively responsible work with assignments such as basic account management and customer service representation; or Associates degree in Business or a related field and/or professional certifications sufficient to indicate the ability to perform the duties of the position with three (3) or more years of progressively responsible work with assignments such as basic account management and customer service representation; experience in a legal or professional service organization desirable
- Working knowledge of accepted accounting management principles and practices; experience with accounting systems and applications; strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills; ability to work effectively with firm partners and staff; ability to work collaboratively as part of the Finance team
- Good organizational and problem solving skills; ability to respond to multiple priorities and meet varying deadlines
