Minimum Qualifications

§ Associates Degree and 2 years of experience/education as a Vehicle and Heavy Equipment Mechanic

§ Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of programs

§ Position may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels; and require wearing PPE including eye and ear protection

§ Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Check may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, including daily inspections, daily and monthly maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment – such as skid steer loaders, mini-excavators, small payloaders, and attachments, and vehicle and heavy equipment replacement cycling

§ Experience using fleet management and tracking software

§ Ability to use Smartsheet to create spreadsheets, schedules, and to track information

• Understand and track total cost of ownership (TCO)
• Budgetary experience and good negotiating skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities

Duties and responsibilities

The Fleet Maintenance Manager performs many organizational and management tasks to monitor, maintain, and improve a company’s transportation processes and heavy and small equipment usage. Their duties and responsibilities include:

§ Provide support to Ops team Re: all vehicle and equipment related maintenance and issues

§ Manage all aspects of the operation for a fleet maintenance facility and large and small equipment repair shop

§ Develop and administer vehicle and equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition.

§ Manage and work with safety in mind, complying with all Federal, State, & Local laws and regulations related to vehicle repair shop operations and vehicle and mobile equipment use and care

§ Schedule and perform regular preventative maintenance on all vehicles

§ Proactively manage repairs and maintenance to minimize disruptions in field operations

§ Keep an accurate inventory of shelved items and stock frequently used items

§ Conduct or subcontract urgent or emergency repairs as needed

§ Coordinate equipment moves

§ Assess whether a vehicle meets environmental standards and make recommendations

§ Research and recommend the Purchase of vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet

§ Provide reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance, and fleet progress

§ Develop methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency

§ Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care.

§ Maintain and manage the Shop, Garages, and Yard in a clean, organized, and safe manner

§ Analyze all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiency

§ Perform other duties as assigned

§ Serve as a contributing member of the Safety Team
