Working Schedule: Monday-Friday

Position Summary: The Food Service Worker is responsible for the preparation of the food. This person will assist in setup and serving of food to the participants. Duties will include cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Easterseals may identify other responsibilities of the position.

General Responsibilities:

  • Estimates food requirements.
  • Responsible for ordering food
  • Creates recipes per the Child and Adult Food Menu guidelines for the food menu
  • Effectively able to operate a variety of kitchen utensils for cooking, serving, and storing.
  • Preparation of hot and/or cold foods.
  • Maintains proper food storage compliance including temperatures and documentation.
  • Maintains compliance with OHCQ, CACFP and the local health department regulations.
  • Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
  • Maintains records and requisition for supplies/equipment as needed.
  • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following all Easterseals, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation on inventory and expiration dates.
  • Provides general stocking duties. * Interacts with participants in the serving and dining areas.
  • May be asked to assist participants with feeding.
  • Attends all required in-service trainings.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Basic food-handling skill
  • Presents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude. * Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.
  • Ability to provide clear directions and respond to employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with participants, families, care providers, employees, colleagues, community referral sources, and the general community. * Ability to follow instructions quickly and easily with minimal supervision, and seek out direction promptly. Ability to take initiative and problem-solve. Qualifications: Education/Experience:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid (preferred)

Internal Relationships and Language:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Aware of potential hazards or problems within the environment and seek out supervision promptly. Report issues, successes, and concerns promptly to Center Director.
  • Work as a team member with Center Management.
  • Work collaboratively with all center staff.
  • Aware of confidentiality of client information.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to use a computer.

Physical Demands:

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Able to maneuver various pathways for entry / exit into locations.
  • Able to lift, carry and move a variety of items such as supplies, equipment, therapy equipment and supplies, approximately 50lbs or less.
