Purpose
Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining of products within Housing and Dining.
Responsibilities
Greet and interact with customers in a professional and upbeat manner. Serve a high quality product during open dining hours. Products may include performing short order or made to order cooking, while providing excellent customer service. Ability to read, follow and understand recipes.
Break down, clean all serving areas and equipment, and properly store, label and date left over food items from the serving line and dining area. Take and record temperatures and ensure cleaning and detail cleaning tasks are completed throughout the shift.
Set up, stock, clean and replenish the serving area during shift in compliance with location and food safety guidelines. Monitor, stock, and rotate inventory items. Inventory of items may be in dry storage area, cooler, freezer, or beverage stations.
Collect and document production records before, during and after service. Complete other tasks as assigned.
Effectively communicate with customers and coworkers. Seek direction at beginning of shift and keep open communication with Management and staff throughout shift.
Required Qualifications
Experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility
Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment
Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
6 months or more experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
Customer service experience in a high volume food service operation.
Ability to multi task and work with little supervision
Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.
Salary Range
$37,440 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished)
May work in extreme temperatures
May work around electrical and mechanical hazards
Use of manual dexterity
Climbing of stairs
Climbing of ladders
Lifting and moving
Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds
Lifting and moving up to 62 pounds.
The successful candidate must successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment.
Work Shift
Work days, area and work hours may vary based on the needs of the Unit and Housing and Dining (UHD)
