Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities (UGMTC) is a Christian ministry serving those experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction in our community. We provide Christ-centered, discipleship-oriented pathways and programs that restore dignity and wholeness to men, women, and children.
Food Service prepares and serves three, hot, wholesome, and healthy meals each day, 365 days a year. Providing hundreds of meals each day and thousands at Thanksgiving, Food Service plays an essential role in meeting the tangible needs of men, women, and children at UGMTC and in the community.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision serves hot and cold food items to residents, guests, volunteers, and staff during meal service times. Cleans work areas, maintains food and supplies on the serving line and washes dishes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• At the direction of the Kitchen Manager, carries out established Food Service processes and procedures.
• Assists in food preparation, set up.
• Serves food during meal service times and greets residents, guests, volunteers, and staff as they move through the serving line.
• Washes dishes, equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and other serviceware, ensuring sanitary handling; organizes and replaces serviceware to appropriate location.
• Operates industrial dishwashing equipment.
• Works with volunteers to ensure proper food handling, serving and safety procedures.
• Maintains cooperative relationships and communication with team to ensure access and positive experiences for UGMTC residents and guests and achievement of program objectives.
• Supports the Christian mission and values of UGMTC with residents, guests, volunteers, and staff.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
No educational requirements

• 1 year food services experience
• Able to work flexible hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, and holidays or weekends.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Team and customer service oriented; works collaboratively with staff to coordinate Food Service activities.

• Ability to read, understand, and communicate with others; follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Possess interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a culturally diverse community.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is in a cafeteria environment with exposure to temperature fluctuation, kitchen hazards, and varying conditions.

• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds consistently, occasionally lift over 30 pounds.
• Work requires standing for long periods of time and repetitive movements.
• Work requires pushing, pulling, reaching, crouching, depth perception, stooping, walking, twisting, carrying, and other physical activities.
• Moderate exposure to physical risk, which requires following basic safety precautions.

Employees must understand and support the Mission's Statement of Faith, the Mission's Employee Handbook, and policies set forth by the organization. This position requires satisfactory completion of criminal background check and drug screening.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
