Experienced in accounting as a Full Charge Bookkeeper? Interested in taking on new challenges and opportunities to further your career? Robert Half is seeking a Full Charge Bookkeeper to prepare and process financial statements and accounts and manage all general accounting and bookkeeping essential functions. This position will require excellent organizational skills, strong communication tactics, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines. The long-term contract / temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper will work in Islandia, New York.

Your responsibilities

• Ensuring monthly, quarterly and year end close happens accurately and on time
• Filing documents to maintain historical records
• Reconciling bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll
• Tracking fixed assets and constructing depreciation schedules
• Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections
• Assembling the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and income and cash flow statements
• Overseeing work of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers
• Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management
• Strong organization skills with a sense of urgency and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experienced in accrual and cash basis of accounting
• Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize work
• High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
• Competence with financial data analysis and report generation that is prompt and accurate
• Excel and Peachtree experience a plus
• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
• Experience with payroll preferred
• Payroll experience highly desired
• Foundational knowledge in Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Command of QuickBooks Enterprise
• Accounts Payable (AP) experience
• Solid understanding of QuickBooks
• Proven flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
