General Education Para Educator – 7 hrs Job at Davenport Community Schools
- New Hires: Entry level rate $12.94/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.
- Work with all students to help meet their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical potential.
- Assist with and support classroom teachers with all content areas of instruction with students in small group, whole group, or individually as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Support a structured, positive learning environment implementing building wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Boys Town Social Skills strategies.
- Supervise students before/after school and during lunch and recess; attend study trips.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility in duties and responsibilities as students' needs change.
- Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her potential.
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
- Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
- Other duties as assigned by building principal or school administrative manager.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk up and down steps all day.
- Must be able to bend, squat and sit on the floor if needed.
- Ability to work with elementary age students.
