Description: Golden Queen Mining Company, LLC (the "Company") operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property (the "Project"), located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach along with the Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore. This is a safety sensitive position.
The Company is seeking a General Foreman - Mobile Equipment Maintenance for its Project. The General Foreman-Mobile Equipment Maintenance will assist in implementation and management of preventative and corrective maintenance systems for the mobile fleet. Golden Queens fleet of equipment includes hydraulic shovels, production drills, loaders, excavators, haulage - trucks, dozers, water trucks, and graders and a range of smaller support equipment typical of an operating mine.
The General Foreman - Mobile Equipment Maintenance will report to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent and Supervisors to implement improvements to the current planning system.
  • Manage and operate a work order focused preventative and corrective planning system.
  • Record, monitor and manage all back logs and work with team to prioritize and schedule repairs
  • Track work orders and issue requisitions
  • Monitor and assist maintenance supervisors with both short-term and long-term maintenance schedules starting with daily checks and extending to multi-year schedules including major overhauls.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to procure maintenance supplies with a focus on just-in-time delivery where feasible.
  • Monitor and maintain all reporting procedures and prepare reports for all facets of maintenance.
  • Assist rotating maintenance supervisors with priorities for the mechanics, welders, and support personnel
  • Work with the Mine Manager and Maintenance Superintendent on monthly cost reporting and monthly reports to ensure the maintenance department is within reasonable budget and accurate accounting of monthly maintenance successes and failures.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment for all personnel, and full compliance with all directives and regulations on safety, health, and the environment.
  • Assist rotating maintenance supervisors with employee evaluations, be a leader, coach, mentor to employees, set a career path, as well as disciplinary actions when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in an open pit mining environment with a focus on all facets of mobile equipment maintenance.
  • The perfect candidate will have had hands-on experience as a heavy equipment mechanic of a large mobile equipment fleet.
  • Provide technical input between vendors and purchasing department for best value procurement decisions.
  • Ability to lead trouble shooting of repair issues and provide best decisions to minimize downtime and rework.
  • Have had held a supervisory position running a maintenance facility similar in complexity to equipment and facilities that are associated with the mine.
  • Willing and able to do shift work if needed.
  • Communicate effectively with Mine Operations and Management on all maintenance issues.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work with a mixed team of heavy-duty mechanics, welders, tire man, and support personnel, including, coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Able and willing to lead by example and mentor both supervisors and department mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement planned maintenance programs for mobile mining equipment.
  • Ability to present information in a manner that is clear and understandable and proficient in all verbal and written skills.
  • Maintain equipment availability numbers and reporting.
  • Needs to have a working knowledge of computers and Microsoft software such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Manager Plus experience is preferred.
