GIS Administrator - United States Air Force Academy - Colorado Springs, CO
POSITION SUMMARY
The GIS Administrator will manage the GeoBase program at the Civil Engineer Squadron, United States Air Force Academy. This will include, but not be limited to:
- Managing the data stewardship program to collect and update GIS data with personnel from multiple shops
- Ensuring the GeoBase program complies with Air Force standards and the USAFA 10CES PWS
- Completing higher level GIS cartography and analysis
- Administering an enterprise Oracle database with ArcSDE
- Completing taskers and manage large projects/initiatives
- Ensuring facility and infrastructure systems changes are updated in the enterprise database
- Verifying contract language to ensure appropriate contract deliverables
- Reviewing GIS deliverables to ensure standards compliance
- Preparing data deliverables and extracts for data requests
- Preparing quotes for purchase requests
- Developing custom datasets
- Preparing spatial databases for changes, migration, updates, etc.
- Attending meetings and representing 10CES GeoBase program
- Training users on data collection with GPS and editing within ArcGIS
- Answering regular audit and program requirement questions and taskers
- Working within the Unit Control Center providing expert GIS support
- Becoming the main point of contact for most high-end GIS questions and service requests
- Note that travel may be required as required by Program needs.
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, GIS, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience shall include administering GIS systems; expertise with ArcGIS, ArcSDE and Oracle; administering ArcSDE and Oracle; ArcIMS and Web Server administration; web programming languages, SQL, HTML, and XML; and programming with Oracle, including stored procedures written in PL-SQL
- Must have experience in information system architectures to include: network communications, business processes and process improvement, data management, server and workstation technologies, web solutions, system governance, and operations
- Ability to maintain a SECRET security clearance
Salary range: 70-80k annualized
