GIS / Mapping Technician.

Rogers Water Utilities is seeking a candidate for GIS / Mapping Technician. The successful candidate will be working with our team in providing the best service to our customers. The position will be responsible for managing the Utility’s GIS database and mapping systems for all water and wastewater assets. The GIS / Mapping Technician performs all functions of data acquisition and mapping, including those identified in duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

· Integrates data from multiple sources into utility mapping system using GIS software.

· Maintains an organized database of record drawings, plats, easements, and utility infrastructure.

· Ensures database is structured for optimal performance.

· Maintains current drawings and databases of utility infrastructure.

· Gathers, organizes, interprets, and verifies data 3rd party sources.

· Collects field data using GPS and laser equipment to acquire topographic, cadastral, and physical feature data.

· Prepares exhibits and customized maps for records, reports, and meetings.

· Compiles and organizes geographic information in the form of satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs.

· Ensures maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information, maintaining data integrity and accuracy.

· Develops sustainable and efficient workflows and systems of collecting and managing data.

· Delivers training and technical support to end-users.

· Maintains the GIS database and troubleshooting data issues.

· Coordinates with various internal and external departments such as field operations, IT, and city planning to ensure acquisition and dissemination of accurate information and data.

· Develops GIS solutions to aid in permitting, construction, and field operations / maintenance procedures.

· Conducts searches of land records, plats, easements, and other records on external databases and GIS systems.

· Creates processes to analyze data within the data base to produce reports and exhibits.

· Not a work from home position. Requires on-sight presence.

Qualifications:

· Equivalent to four year college degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

· 5 years related experience and/or training

· 3-5 years related project management experience, or equivalent combination of education & experience.

· Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions.

· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane algebra, solid geometry and trigonometry.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

· Ability to acquire and maintain Water and Wastewater Operator Licenses.

· Maintain a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.

· Must be available to work regular schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm – Monday thru Friday.

· Must be able to represent RWU in a professional manner.

· Problem Solving using structured practices or policies and directed as to executive and review.

· Steady and Consistent Work History.

· Proficient in Word, Excel, and ArcGIS.

· Proficiency in ArcGIS Utility Network, Python, AutoCAD, and Cityworks is highly preferred.

· Preferred certifications: GISP, ESRI Technical Certificate.

Based on definitions in the RWU Employee Policy Manual this position meets the criteria to be defined as a Security or Safety Sensitive position. As a result of this determination any employee working in this position is required to disclose to their Department Manager or Superintendent the use of any prescribed medication, including marijuana, which has the potential to impact the employee’s ability to perform the duties of their position.
