GIS TECHNICIAN Job at City of Harrisonville
The City of Harrisonville is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of GIS Technician in our Community Development Department.
General Definition of Work
Performs work maintaining data and licensing for the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS), gathering, and analyzing data, creating reports, assisting the public with inquires, evaluating proposed development/redevelopment applications, creating maps and models for use by all departments in respect to projects and asset management, preparing illustrations/maps that require the application of cartographic and planning illustration techniques, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Essential Functions
Maintains the City’s GIS that includes the data base and develop maps/illustrations for planning purposes; assists other departments with the integration of data acquired by those departments into the City’s GIS.
Coordinates with departments on projects
Maintains licensing and migration of software.
Assists public with copies of plats, maps, lot dimensions, adopt a street information, and other inquiries.
Aids in the development of short and long-range plans and projects; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations.
Researches the land use code to answer inquiries by residents, developers, builders, and city staff.
Conducts special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s or Technical degree in community development, GIS, or related field and less than a year of experience in GIS cartography and planning, Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) platforms, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Qualifications
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Pay Range - $18.36 to $25.70 plus a generous benefit package.
