Job Description
Within URUS, the mission of the Global Development (GD) department is to drive the long-term market growth of the company by supporting the education and development of farmers in emerging countries. Our team is currently implementing projects in Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe with a defined focus on growing the URUS footprint in Africa. These projects are partially supported by grants, including the Cooperative Development Program (CDP) from USAID, Emerging Markets Program (EMP) from USDA and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
We are looking for a motivated and energetic person, for the Global Development Coordinator role focused on developing and managing educational activities for small and emerging farmers, including but not limited to virtual trainings, consulting trips, social media communications etc. In addition, the role will also support the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and other administrative tasks and will support the growth of the department by identifying new projects and funding opportunities.
Position reports to Global Development Manager and works closely with the rest of the Global Development department and other URUS teams. The position will be based at the URUS Madison office and allow for remote working according to company policies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Coordinator
- Track training and activity records; compile internal and external reports and dashboards to track results vs budgets/targets
- Assist in semi-annual reports: Summarize business plans and strategic plans; Track progress according to PMP;
- Assist with mid-term assessment report: data analysis, draft report;
- Track progress of activities in Gender Integration Plan and work with Project Manager and COPs in evaluation.
- Lead data collection and analysis: Annual co-op and farm level surveys
- Coordinate the Global Development (GD) Educational activities:
- Manage the different projects’ curricula and materials in an efficient way that maximizes resources and minimizes duplication;
- Work with rest of the team to develop relevant content for the targeted farmers;
- Mobilize URUS internal resources (staff, education materials etc.) and organize training activities using these resources;
- Identify and test innovative education delivery platforms by following global trends and developments;
- Support Global Development (GD) communication activities: CDP newsletters and bulletins; website and social media content; collect and curate success stories etc.
- Support the writing and follow-up on proposals for funding development projects by donor organizations. Discover and prioritize the funding programs that align best with the URUS strategy;
- Travel schedule
- Expected travel commitment of 20 to 30% of the time;
- Majority of travel to emerging countries in Latin America and Africa, with occasional travel to US destinations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture or business is preferred
- Experience working overseas in an emerging market or developing nation.
- Experience in ag business and/or international development.
Skills & Competencies:
- High-energy; ultra passionate about emerging markets and working with livestock farmers;
- Strong people skills and able to collaborate in evolving environments with multiple stakeholders;
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and proven ability to compile reports from large and diversified data sets.
- Strong training/coaching/mentoring skills;
- Exceptional oral and presentation skills; strong English skills;
- Proactive business relationship management skills with a commitment to completing projects;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office;
