B&A Grant Services & Software (B&A) was founded in 2000 by a mother seeking a way to do what she loves while working from home. To this day, our team is comprised of 95%+ women. We take pride in a culture that supports the remote work and flex time needs of intelligent and talented professionals.
B&A provides professional grant research, grant writing, and grant management consulting to exclusively to cities. As local government specialists, we do not serve private sector or non-profit clients. B&A is trusted by City Mangers and Department Heads (e.g., Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Water, Police, and Fire) to develop grant proposals on behalf of the City seeking state & federal grants to fund key projects (e.g., construction of bike lanes, community centers, water infrastructure, firefighting equipment)– to improve the communities in which we all live.
B&A has a 22+ year history of success specializing in writing state and federal grant applications on behalf of cities. Due to our institutional experience and holistic best practices, we have a track record of winning greater than 75% of all proposals we write.
Your Goal – Key Responsibilities of a B&A Grant Writer:
· Technical Writing – Write persuasive narrative with interwoven technical facts (3-50 pages of narrative);
· Write with Data – Translate complex information in a clear, interesting, and engaging way;
· Develop Supporting Materials – Create budgets, budget narratives, project timelines, gantt charts, project schedules, project scopes of work, letters of support, project site maps and project photo pages, and required forms as-needed;
· Multitask – Manage execution of multiple grant applications for multiple clients within the same time period.
· Utilize Online Tools –such as Google Earth, US Census Bureau website, California Community Fact Finder, CalEnviroScreen, and other on-line research tools;
· Interview subject matter experts and distil most important insights; and
· Develop a professional relationship with client staff members; and
· Work Efficiently – Deliver assignments within quoted project hours.

Basic Qualifications:
· Superior analytical and written communication skills;
· Adept at online research and information gathering;
· (Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Communications (or applicable field);
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). We are a Windows-based firm; candidates using Apple products must be proficient with MS Office products (MS Office training will not be provided); and
· Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
Basic Technical Requirements:
· Must be efficient, effective, and focused in a work-from-home environment;
· Fast internet connection and quiet place to focus to fully participate in video meetings and conference calls with clients and colleagues; and
· Professional presence in online meetings (Microsoft Teams).
