POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Healthy Living Director, under the direction of the Associate Center Executive, provides leadership and management for Fitness Department operations, staff, budget, fundraising, as well as the program and membership experience in accordance with all South Wood County YMCA policies, procedures and standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Planning and implementing health and wellness programs and initiatives such as group exercise, senior fitness, youth fitness, personal training, nutrition, chronic disease and wellness center.
- Observe, monitor and evaluate programs on an on-going basis both formally/informally and with input from members/participants/staff. This includes monitoring program delivery, participation, quality, purpose, match to mission and budget impact, and effectively responding to concerns, suggestions and complaints. Add new program initiatives when needed and drop existing programs when appropriate.
- Assist in the representation of the YMCA in service area and look to forge relationships with outside organizations to promote YMCA mission and serve community needs.
- Develop, implement and monitor the department budget, along with the Associate Center Executive, making income and/or expense and/or staffing modifications as required to meet goals and YMCA mission.
- Monitor equipment usage, and purchase program materials as needed/budgeted. Assist in the maintenance of equipment.
- Serve as a contributing management team member in the overall YMCA organization to develop and maintain operations of a quality, charitable, non-profit organization. Attend regularly scheduled Y leadership team meetings.
- Participate in rotation of Director on Duty shifts and serve in a lead or supporting role in Annual Campaign.
- Provide bold and dynamic leadership in health and wellness department. Substitute in program areas as needed.
- Provide supervision to all health and wellness staff that includes hiring, firing, evaluation and training in accordance with the organization’s human resource policies.
- Create wellness and group exercise staff schedules.
- Ensure own professional growth through attendance of appropriate and required trainings.
- Assist Associate Center Executive with maintenance of staff records in accordance with any and all regulatory agencies and the Y.
- Complete payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-year associates degree in Health and Fitness or related field. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
- 3-5 years supervisory experience.
- CPR/AED & First Aid Certified within 60 days of hire
- Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire
- Personal Trainer certified (ACE, NASM, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA, NETA, etc.)
- Obtain Group Exercise certification from a nationally accredited source within 6 months of hire
- Ability to establish relationships with staff and members within the community of the YMCA
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Completion of the Leadership Certification (Link) within 60 days of hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Physically perform all skills required of a personal trainer and fitness instructor
- Be observant and attend to members who appear to be in distress
- Must be able to handle questions/concerns and resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
