Starting salary for this position is: $4,541 (Monthly)
Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. If an employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range, will have salary step advancement after 12 months and salary step advancement every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase in salary.

The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of HVAC Tech in the SCC Facilities Department.
Under general direction this position performs skilled work in the inspection, testing, servicing, and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment (HVAC) systems, and related equipment at Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) facilities. This position makes repairs to HVAC system components including chillers, boilers, valves, and other items and responds to calls on heating and cooling problems to evaluate problem and make appropriate repairs.
CCS serves over 30,000 students a year throughout Eastern Washington at two accredited institutions, Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC). The HVAC Technician is a critical and valued member of a dynamic Facilities team that serves students, staff and faculty.
Evaluate heating and cooling problems, make appropriate diagnosis and make repairs to faulty HVAC equipment and HVAC systems and controls. *- Install new control components including valves, actuators, and sensors, and document HVAC control modifications at completion of projects. May need to coordinate with administrators, contractors and other trades to implement projects. *
- Develop cost estimates for repairs and upgrades; purchase supplies and equipment for HVAC projects; assist in specifying HVAC equipment and controls. *
- Maintain CCS building HVAC control programs and systems. Make changes to control programs to facilitate building changes and variations in program needs. *
- Read and evaluate building plans and specifications. *
- Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
- Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statute and collective bargaining agreements. *
- Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *
- Assist other trades in completion of maintenance and upgrade projects.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
Current Washington O6A Electrical License.- Current City of Spokane Mechanics II Gas License.
- Current Refrigerant EPA Certification Card (Universal Preferred).
- Knowledge of HVAC codes.
- Experience with LonWorks, Seimens, Robert Shaw, Schneider Electric (TAC) and DDC control systems.
- Knowledge of electrical codes.
- Knowledge of building codes.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
- Ability to set own work priorities.
- Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
- A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS.
- The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.
- City of Spokane Boiler License.
- Ability to perform HVAC and control repairs specific to the Community Colleges.
- Ability to perform minor plumbing repairs.
- Ability to understand Community Colleges controls layout and needs.
- Experience working for a government or higher education institution.
- Completion of a four-year approved institution course as a Control/HVAC Technician Trainee; OR five years of applicable experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and pneumatic control systems. Vocational or trade school training in control or HVAC mechanisms may be substituted, year-for-year, for work experience up to a maximum of two years.
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $71,769-$85,146.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Work is equally performed in indoor temperature-controlled office environment, and outdoor uncontrolled elements.
- Work is active in nature.
- Move up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
- Operates and controls movement of power tools and/or large mechanized, powered and non-powered equipment.
- Frequent kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and twisting.
- Enters, crouches, twists, works and climbs in and out of confined spaces.
- Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation.
- Extension of arms overhead for sustained periods.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, odors and/or biohazards.
- Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week).
- 6-month probationary period; may be extended up to 12 months.
- This position is overtime eligible.
- Requires local or regional travel. If using personal vehicle proof of driver's license and car insurance required.
