POSITION OVERVIEW
The Purchasing Agent will provide comprehensive procurement services for our equipment teams and projects across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building; and mining. Our key objectives are to offer customers a world-class service focused on ensuring equipment is consistently estimated and procured at the right price. We strive to offer an appropriate level of quality and ensure materials and services are delivered on schedule and in compliance with the customer’s specifications and expectations.
DISTRICT OVERVIEW
Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) helps to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through the improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by delivering world-class equipment and service.
LOCATION
This position will be based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Omaha, NE.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Procure “best value” equipment at the lowest possible cost while meeting specifications and delivery requirements.
- Purchase orders will be written to follow a standard, this enables spend analytics, master data integrity and risk mitigation.
- Evaluate and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with obligations and determine needs for changes.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and the supplier’s reputation and history.
- Leverage vendors across multiple markets to create cost savings to project(s) and the company.
- Monitor shipments to ensure goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
- Prepare/Issue Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and evaluate vendor proposals to identify vendors who meet project constraints of budget and schedule at the estimating, execution and project site levels.
- Facilitate implementation of strategic sourcing plan with preferred suppliers to meet estimated delivery time frame.
- Produce and review performance metrics to drive change management solutions within KES.
- Participate in KES procurement technology and solutions roadmap. Also, provide training and business requirements to end users.
- Negotiate commercial terms and conditions with equipment vendors and professional service providers; consult with corporate attorneys and senior management to minimize project and corporate risk while maintaining commercial competitiveness.
- Coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying and/or estimating equipment, and professional services.
- Maintain records of all contractual documentation.
- Adherence of online purchasing and contract management systems.
- Participate in the development and review of all procurement analytics, reporting and deliverables.
- Confer with staff, users and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or service and determine corrective action.
- Interface with business, legal, risk, tax, suppliers and internal procurement departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineer, supply chain management, or equivalent degree and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction, business or equivalent work/field.
- Thorough understanding of all areas of procurement is desirable, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, offsite supplier quality and site purchasing.
- Knowledge of equipment and materials common in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel).
- SAP and/or GEP Experience a plus.
- Detail-oriented, flexible and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Team player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals and objectives.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
