I . High school diploma or equivalent.
2. General knowledge ofroad repair and maintenance.
LIC ENSUR.E, OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with airbrake endorsement and other
required endorsement(s).
l. Follows proper work methods and procedures within defined work guidelines.
Operates dump truck to perform a vadety ofactivities on highway road and drainage projects (e.g., hauls
material to and debris from proj ect sites, plows snow, spreads salt, etc.).
Performs various manual and semiskilled labor functions (e.g., applies stone, gravel, tar, and blacktop to
road surfbces; erects fences and guardrails, roadside mowing, etc.).
Cuts trees and shrubs, pulls fences, picks up litter and debris, installs culvert pipe; washes vehicles, etc.
Assists bridge and traffic crew and flags traffic.
Operates light and hand held power tools and equipment (e.g., operates chain saw, jackhammer, weed
eater, mower, etc.).
Performs routine preventive maintenance on various equipment operated (e.g., checks fluid levels, tire
pressure, lights, brakes and other safety devices, etc.) and reports problems and/or malfunctions to
proper authorities.

Maintains records reflecting fuel used to operate equipment.
9. Lift up to eighty (80) pounds and move a distance ofthirty (30) yards.
10. Follows all ofthe Engineer's safety policies and procedures.
I l. Maintains all required licenses and/or certificates.
12. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
L Attends workshops or seminars related to duties performed.
2. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge of: two-way radio operations; Engineer's policies and procedures; safety practices and procedures;
department goals and objectives; department policies and procedures; road construction, maintenance, and
repair; proper lifting techniques; snow and ice removal.
Skill in: motor vehicle operation; snowplow operation
Ability to: carry out simple instructions; deal with problems involving few variables within familiar context;
recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; exercise independent judgment and
discretion; communicate effectively; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; develop and maintain
effective working relationships; lift up to 80 pounds, up to a distance of30 yards; perform light manual labor
for extended periods of time in often adverse conditions; travel to and gain access to work site.
