Performs routine and special histology testing. Maintains equipment and troubleshoots problems. Evaluates results and quality control data. Serves as a resource and teaches new employees and students. Assists in evaluating new test procedures. Requirements:

• Candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills and have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

• Routine histology including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, frozen sections and cytology prep with the capability to identify problems that may affect test resulting and reporting.
• Special staining and Immunohistochemistry staining.
• Experience in IHC preferred including validation of test procedures and control tissues, reagent preparation and maintenance and troubleshooting of IHC instrumentation.
• Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments.
• Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies including documentation, recognizing and correcting outlying issues.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety and compliance programs.
• Assist with special projects and other duties including clerical and support, as assigned by the manager or lead tech.
• Maintenance of inventory.
• CoPath pathology system computer skills.
• Supervised grossing of specimens as trained.
• Other duties as assigned.
