About This Position

The Host/Hostess is the first impression for the Restaurant at Alderbrook; responsible for introducing the guest to the dining experience. All guests must be welcomed and warmly greeted upon arrival. Seating should be both timely and efficient, managing the flow and seating our guests to a table that best serves their wishes. In this position, you will:

  • Maintain knowledge of floor charts, seating numbers and Restaurant layout.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of menu ingredients, reservation policies and host duties.
  • Make a great first impression with posture and appearance; always complying with Alderbrook Resort & Spa appearance standards.
  • Engage guests in conversation as you seat them.
  • If needed, assist with clearing and resetting tables within 2 minutes.
  • Greet all guests warmly and with a smile, and thank them as they depart, inviting them to return.
  • Seat guests based on guest preference and balance of customer flow in service stations.
  • Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
  • Relay messages to servers and bussers as needed.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1-3 years' prior experience in hosting or customer service
  • Possess or obtain Washington State Food Handlers Card - required within 14 days from start
  • Weekend availability, required

  • Interpersonal: Ability to work/communicate effectively verbally with multiple operating departments. Able to speak, read and write English.
  • Work habits: Ability to work independently, autonomously and without supervision, while also able to follow written and verbal instructions when necessary. Able to work long hours and overtime if necessary. Team-oriented.
