A host at any of the Smith restaurants ensure that patrons have an enjoyable dining experience by providing quality customer service. Working in the front of the house seating, setting and removing dinnerware from the table in a timely manner.
- Answer questions regarding the menu
- Work closely with other wait staff and kitchen staff
- Offer suggestions and recommendations on menu and drinks
- Learn daily specials, food preparations, and ingredients
- Greeting customers
- Cleaning tables and dining area
- Setting tables
- Able to lift 20 to 40 lbs
- Able to stand, walk (up and down flights of stairs), reaching, for 100% of work time
Candidates must be available to work nights and weekends. At least 2 years of dining restaurant experience and wine knowledge preferred, though not required. Duration of training periods will be determined by the manager. Smith reserves the right to extend or shorten the length of training based on overall performance and suitability in the position or restaurant as a whole. Trial periods are between 30, 60 and 90 days. Smith reserves the right to deny employment after completion of the training period if the applicant is deemed unfit for the position or restaurant.
Those who succeed in training sessions will be invited to continue their training on the job.
