Hotel Manager In Training

Did you recently graduate and are looking for a career in the hospitality industry?

Newport Hotel Group is offering a 12-month rotational Manager in Training program with hands-on experience and in-depth exposure to hotel operations. Trainees will work in all positions throughout the Front Office and Housekeeping Departments. They will also have the opportunity to apply and be considered for a concentration in Human Resources and/or Accounting. This experience will assist in a comprehensive understanding of how hotels operate while developing supervisory and management skills. It is anticipated that after one year in this rotational program candidates will be promoted into a leadership role!

The starting rate of pay is $55-65k/year with the opportunity to increase depending on availability for overtime and a pay increase of $1/hour every 3-4 months.

WHO CAN APPLY

• Recent graduates with a bachelor's degree in Hospitality/Tourism or Business are preferred.
• Experience in hospitality or related professional areas.

CANDIDATES MUST BE WILLING TO

• Commit to delivering high levels of customer service.
• Desire to develop as a leader in the hospitality field.
• Each participant must be available to work a five-day work week as well as additional days as needed, including weekends and holidays. Due to occupancy continuously changing, the hotel is unable to accommodate set schedules so days off and shifts will rotate. There may be opportunities for overtime and a sixth day depending on hotel occupancy and needs.
• Throughout the year of training, participants are provided a set of goals to accomplish. The goals are laid out into three phases, the first phase is learning more introductory tasks such as working at a Room Attendant, Laundry Attendant, Front Desk Agent, Night Auditor and so on. As participants work their way through each phase, they are provided with additional goals to learn more supervisor skills and tasks. The goal of this program is to really focus on the participants leadership development, so they are ready to take on a supervisor or manager role at the end of the year.
• Each participant will begin their assignment at one of the available locations that they select. It is anticipated the participant may transfer to at least one other hotel while working in the MIT program. If participants are flexible, additional hotel transfers may be available.
