SVCC is located in a rural setting of rolling hills, pine and hardwood forests, and farmland. There is easy access to nearby metropolitan Richmond, Virginia, the state’s capital, as well as Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lynchburg, Virginia. The area is famous for its two lakes, Gaston and Kerr, and a multitude of state and national parks which offer recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, skiing, jet-skiing, hiking, horseback riding, picnics, and relaxation. The area also offers sports arenas for baseball, softball, soccer and beautiful golf courses. There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.
SVCC is seeking a candidate for the position of Housekeeper on the Christanna Campus in Alberta, VA to help maintain a clean, sanitary and safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position typically works Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional weekend and night shifts and alternate schedules required during special events.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- sweep and mop floors in assigned areas
- clean and polish furniture in assigned areas
- wash windows and walls as needed
- clean restrooms and restock supplies
- pick up mail from the local post office
- open buildings as necessary each morning
- assist students, faculty, staff and visitors as necessary
- assist with setting up and taking down of special activities and events
- minimal clerical duties such as answering phone, faxing documents, obtaining quotes, filing, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in performance of cleaning tasks, floor care, restroom cleaning and general custodial care
- Experience operating computers and using basic software for email, time reporting and work order applications
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning chemicals and supplies and of safety practices as related to the work
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Exceptional customer service experience
- Requires ability to read and understand product labels, handling instructions, user manuals, etc.
- Ability to use time wisely with little supervision
- Must possess active Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
- High school graduate of equivalent
