Housekeeper’s Job Description
Summary of Position:
The housekeeper is an employee who provides certain services that help to maintain the upkeep or our facility and who safeguards the living environment that may be disrupted by illness, facility repairs or other situations that may develop.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
2. 18 years of age
3. Evidence of good physical and mental health. Must be free of medical conditions that limit the staff member’s ability to provide the necessary direct care services with reasonable skill and safety. This includes, but is not limited to, drug and alcohol addiction as specified in § 2600.54(a)
4. Show an interest and caring attitude toward residents while exhibiting a warm and welcoming personality.
5. Must respect and show concern for all residents regardless of age, race, religion, gender, nationality or mental status.
6. Willingness to accept and learn from supervision. These include the ability to learn and execute the procedures as instructed by the staff member whom is training.
7. Willingness to abide by Our Home of Hope Rules.
Abilities:
1. Ability to interact with the residents, families and co-workers.
2. Ability to work independently.
3. Ability to deal with emergencies calmly and efficiently.
4. Ability to effectively utilize time.
5. Ability to read, write and speak English.
a. Must be able to record messages and keep records appropriate to job assignments
6. Ability to make significant observations of functional problems related to the resident or the facility.
7. Ability to be flexible with schedule.
Responsibilities:
1. Help maintain cleanliness and neatness of resident rooms and common areas.
2. Assist with cleaning resident’s personal laundry, towels and bed linens.
3. Assist with changing linens and make beds on scheduled days.
4. Clean bathrooms as needed
5. Vacuum all public sitting areas and steps daily
6. Move furniture in bedrooms and sitting areas quarterly and after a resident is discharged
7. Clean windows, decks and porches as needed
8. Help organize bedrooms and closets as needed
9. Order cleaning supplies
10. Assist with serving meals if time allows
11. Answer telephone and take messages if Aides, Supervisor or Administrator is unavailable
12. Assist residents in getting to meals and activities.
13. Report documentation of daily tasks on appropriate forms.
14. Attend all mandatory staff meetings or resident council meetings upon the request of administrator.
7. Assist with activities as requested or required by supervisory staff.
8. Follow other instructions and perform any related job duties that may be required for the position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
