Housekeeping Pecan Clinic Job at Glen Rose Medical Center
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper is responsible for providing housekeeping support for designated areas in the hospital, essential to maintaining sanitation standards. Environmental service workers primarily handle room readiness in patient areas and general cleanliness procedures in staff and public areas. Provides no direct patient care. All job functions are carried out according to Glen Rose Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures and Mission/Vision Statement. The Housekeeper reports directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Housekeeping Assistant Responsibilities:
- For normal daily room cleaning: pull trash bag out of trash can, wipe clean with germicidal. Place clean trash bag in can. Return to designated spot.
- Cleans over-bed tables and other miscellaneous furniture, wipe down cleaning solution to kill germs and assure proper sanitary measures.
- Cleans sink and bathroom including pipes and fixtures with cleaning solution to kill germs and assure proper sanitary measures.
- Dust mop in patient room to remove dirt, dust, and grit from floor. Mop floor with cleaning solution, emphasize cleaning corners, under bed and tables.
- Replenish paper supplies in bathroom, towels, and toilet paper. Check soap dispenser, refill if needed.
- Dust and wash light fixtures, clean nightstand inside and out to remove dust and kill germs to prevent spread of infection and ensure sanitary area for new
patient arrival. Raise bed to clean under it thoroughly, wash head board, foot board, and rails with cleaning solution to kill germs.
- Turn the mattress each time a patient is discharged. Replace linen from clean linen closet.
- All paper towels and toilet paper are placed in trash and replaced with fresh uncontaminated supplies.
- Infectious trash is placed in a red bag to indicate infectious waste and to be burned. Linens are placed in a white a with blue letters bag to indicate infectious waste and sent to laundry to be cleaned according to procedure. Clean pails with rags and place rags in white bag with laundry for each room.
- Buff tile and finished floors with a high speed buffer.
- Vacuum hallways and all carpet floors.
- Shampoo carpets to remove stains and dirt.
