SMHO is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, team player Compliance Specialist. This position provides compliance related guidance and administrative support for tenant-based and project-based rental assistance programs with varying eligibility requirements, referral sources, and service partners. The Compliance Specialist is expected to be familiar with program rules and assist staff with adhering to them, including management of supporting paperwork and electronic data collection.
Job Type: Full Time
Starting Pay: $24 – $26.50 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.

Job Duties
- Perform routine audits of all on-site programs files and assist in correcting problem areas with the Property Manager
- Offers support and assist with one-on-one training with on-site staff
- Monitor timely collection of paperwork needed for recertifications
- Ensure staff are completing regular certification in a timely manner
- Ability to handle all problems, complaints and questions in regard to compliance paperwork
- Review, understand, and provide monthly, quarterly, and all reports pertaining to compliance
- Assist in the set-up of new tax credit units
- Remain up-to-date on compliance procedures and trainings. Assure that all compliance changes and requirements made by Housing Authorities are adhered to
- Manages all aspects of Section 8 contracts
- Ensures MOR preparation is planned and scheduled
- Completes company required training by established deadline
- Complies with all SMHO standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws
- Other jobs as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all clients, visitors, employees, vendors, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, simultaneously.
- Require positive attitude to accomplish the requirements of the job.
